Activities for the 2019 social year

The social year proved to be quite challenging for the life of the association due to the relocation to a smaller venue, which forced the cancellation of many activities. However, thanks to the provision of new premises at ITIS Di Vittorio-Lattanzio, the social year was successfully completed. Below are the activities carried out, which will continue regularly in the future.

 

MUSICAL WORKSHOP SARÁBANDA
Conducted and coordinated by Sebastiano Spinella.

Lessons on the restoration, repair, and tuning of musical instruments such as bellows instruments (accordion, organetto, bandoneon, air organ) and string instruments (guitar, mandolin, bass, acoustic and electric). Technology and tuning of the piano. 4 apprentice luthiers, 2 Romani and 2 Italians, aged between 15 and 22. (Ongoing activity)

January:

  • Acting workshop: a two-day meeting for the film project “Lala” by director Ludovica Fales (Transmedia Production) with young people from the Romani camps of Salone and Gordiani, and second-generation immigrants from various backgrounds. 20 participants.
  • Conclusion of the PEPE Project by Cemea del Mezzogiorno and the activation of National Civil Service for a young person from the Gordiani camp.
  • Participation in the STORY_S project – Springboard to Roma Youth Success. Empowering young people to recognize and counteract the origins of discrimination. European Commission for Rights, Equality and Citizenship Programme 2014-2020 / University of Bergamo. Series of meetings and workshops at the venue and outside, 10 participants.
  • Participation in the project “Building the totems of solidarity” by the cultural association Lignarius – art and restoration and the Lazio Region. 1 confirmed participant, activity starting in March 2019.

March:

  • Relocation of the operational headquarters to the basement of ITIS Di Vittorio – Lattanzio.

May:

  • Launch of the partnership in the project “(Roma) Heroes in Theater and everyday life,” led by Independent Theater Hungary. Project sponsored and funded by the European Community under the Erasmus+ educational projects framework. The project includes the creation of a training module on the theme of anti-Gypsyism in the form of an artistic workshop. Partners include associations from Hungary, Romania, and Spain. Organization supervisor and trainer: Sebastiano Spinella. External collaboration for research and training: Ursula Mainardi. First international meeting in Rome with all partners (Kickstarter).

June:

  • Establishment of a second operational headquarters outside the city at Loc. S. Quirico snc – 01010 Barbarano Romano (VT) for activities and outings for members planned throughout the social year.

August:

  • Second international meeting for the “(Roma) Heroes in Theater and everyday life” project in Bucharest. Collective training of trainers.

October:

  • Start of training for 4 young Roma and non-Roma participants as part of the “(Roma) Heroes in Theater and everyday life” project. The training will take place weekly with occasional thematic meetings from October 2019 to June 2020
