Diverse Theatres of Rome for an Inclusive Europe

We-Rampa Prenestina, Italy; Independent Theater Hungary; Giuvlipen, Romania—are pleased to inform you that we have launched our project: Diverse Roma Theatre for Inclusive Europe, through which we will have the opportunity to carry out a series of activities and events throughout 2023.

We will organize three international Romani theater festivals, one in Bucharest (Romania), one in Rome (Italy), and one in Budapest (Hungary), during which we will present both local and international Romani theater performances from across Europe.
We will hold two workshops for theater artists:

  1. On ‘Consent and Healing in Theater’, led by renowned Romani actress and performer Mihaela Drăgan in Bucharest;
  2. A workshop on the use of masks in Commedia dell’Arte, curated by Rampa Prenestina and led by Claudio De Maglio (Nico Pepe Academy) in Rome.

We will continue to expand the Digital Video Collection of European Romani Theater and Dramaturgy (https://romaheroes.org/), where we will feature new Romani artists and theater companies.

We—Romani theater artists and organizations—are often isolated, rarely considered by broader groups in society, and seem weak when working alone. But we believe that together, we can be stronger and achieve much more than anyone could on their own.
